The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the federal government's financial assistance program for college students, based on financial need. Complete January 1 and thereafter for the same calendar year that your son or daughter plans to attend college. Remember, it is a free application - do not confuse it with other "FAFSA" sites that charge a fee for services.
Scholarship & Financial Aid Scams
Each year parents and students fall prey to scholarship and financial aid scams. Unscrupulous companies may attempt to lure consumers by making promises that are fraudulant or by charging fees for information that is generally available to everyone for free. The Federal Trade Commission cautions consumers to look for some of these tell tale lines:
SUNY Financial Aid Days
These workshops are free of charge and open to all prosective college students and their families. Students can register by going online to the SUNY student events page or calling 1-800-3811.
Scholarship Criteria
If a scholarship needs a transcript, please request it from the Counseling Office secretaries 3 days prior to deadline date. This will allow us time to get your official transcript ready and back to you by the deadline date.
